1) What are live virtual classes? What should I expect?

NCBI conducts our live virtual classes via the Zoom video conferencing tool. How does a live virtual class work? It’s simple. Two days before your class date, we’ll send you a link to join via Zoom. On the day of your class, click the link, join with your microphone and camera turned on, a moderator will check you in and you’re all set.

NOTE: the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors requires students to have proper technology and equipment to reliably access live virtual classes. At a minimum, this includes:

  • A computer or other device with camera and microphone capabilities (student connection via cell phone is not allowed)
  • Broadband internet access with a strong internet connection capable of maintaining connectivity
  • Software requirements (i.e. operating system, browser, etc.)

3) Can I fulfill all 8 of my required Continuing Education (CE) credit hours in one day?

Yes, you can fulfill all 8 hours of your CE requirement IN ONE DAY through live virtual classes with NCBI. The 8-hour CE requirement includes a two-hour mandatory class with information about changes in the laws and rules and other content applicable to general contracting while the remaining 6 hours are divided into two- and four-hour elective courses. Every day we offer classes, our instructors teach three consecutive courses consisting of a total of 8 credit hours. It’s up to you whether you want to take all eight hours (three classes) in one day or split it up and only take one or two classes. The choice is yours!

4) Will NCBI report my continuing education credit to the NCLBGC?

Yes. Our staff reports your credit hours to the NCLBGC within 7 days of your class.

5) Where do I find my Qualifier ID number?

Separate from your license number, you will need your qualifier number to register for classes. Your qualifier number can be found on the NCLBGC website homepage by scrolling down and using the “Licensee and Qualifier Search” feature.

4) How do I create an account to sign up for classes?

From our homepage click the log-in button highlighted in the photo below, or, click here to create a new account. Once the log-in page loads, new users will need to click the orange “click here” button to create an account. IMPORTANT: you will receive an email to confirm your new account. Click the link in that email to finish setting up your account. This step is critical. You will not be able to access your account and sign up for classes until this step has been completed.
